The other month Dorian Yates (6 x Mr Olympia) did a seminar at our local gym. It was to re-launch the refurbished gym which had some pretty good new kit in it.

What I found interesting was that no body asked any questions about steroid usage. We all knew that you don't become Mr Olympia without using steroids. However, this line of questioning seemed to have a taboo associated with it, most likely due to the "underground" nature of steroid usage. Perhaps this blog will serve its' small part in bring steroid usage into sensible debate.
The only line of questioning that did approach this was when somebody asked if he thought natural bodybuilding would ever be as popular as Mr Olympia, to amusement of the rest of the audience. I wasn't sure if the amusement was because everybody was thinking what I was that a large subject matter was being left out, or just that of course it wouldn't for various reasons ... I think a number of people in the room were "juicers" and perhaps under valued the "natural bodybuilder" in my opinion. Made me wonder if I wanted to be grouped with these "juicers" ...
Another point I found interesting was that he only trained 4-days a week, a no longer than 45 minutes or an hour at most. I always thought that using steroids meant that you could train more often (by helping you to recover quicker) - you learn something new every day!
Lastly, we all made a visit to the gym to see the new equipment. While Dorian was looking around, very interestingly one of the audience, asked Dorian to comment on his physique, and proceeded to take his top off and drop his trousers round his ankles and pose. I admired the mans forwardness, although couldn't help but think it seemed a little odd. It made me think about my own forwardness if I am going to compete at the end of the year ...
